LNG, a cryogenic fuel known for its unique handling and storage requirements, requires precise monitoring. The fluid inside the thermally insulated tanks exists in both liquid and vapour forms at temperatures as low as -160°C. To maintain optimal pressure levels, the excess vapour needs to be vented out. This process, referred to as venting, can be automated through pneumatic valves or performed manually during refilling operations. However, accurately assessing LNG fuel efficiency has been a major challenge, as existing tracking systems only consider the burnt fuel injected and overlook the quantity vented out, resulting in a lack of transparency.
DDLG is a game-changing solution from Intangles. Its state-of-the-art ML-driven algorithms offer precise tracking of fuel refilling as well as the exact measurement of fuel vented out.
By incorporating these crucial data points, LNG vehicle owners and operators gain a significantly more accurate estimation of fuel efficiency, allowing for enhanced visibility into the operational costs associated with cleaner fuel vehicles. Traditionally, LNG tanks have level sensors that measure volume, while billing is typically based on weight (kgs). Hence, accurately measuring the mass of fuel filled and vented out becomes critical. Adding to the complexity, the density of fuel inside cryogenic tanks varies with ambient conditions.
Leveraging cutting-edge machine learning algorithms, Intangles dynamically derives density to provide precise measurements of LNG fillings in kilograms. This enables an accurate estimation of energy efficiency in kilometers per kilogram (km/kg), offering unparalleled insights into the vehicle’s performance over time.
